After being thrown into the deep end during the learning curve that was COVID-19, 2021 has been the year of figuring out what the new normal is or should be going forward. So here are our top 6 lessons learned in business that should be taken into what will undoubtedly be your year to thrive, 2022!
● Invest in a good digital project management system and use it.
Let’s face it; we will never go back to the days of working full time from an office. With flexible and remote offices, communication with your team has never been more critical. Invest in a good digital project management and communication platform so that you can track and manage your projects efficiently from wherever you’re based.
● Embrace easy technology like QR codes.
If you’re not online, do you even exist? QR codes are the new calling cards, only more accessible. They can be used for everything, from taking your customer directly to a product information page or adding them as a contact on WhatsApp. Utilize these available channels to make it easy for your target market to find you and what they’re looking for. If reaching you is difficult; they’ll find what they’re looking for somewhere else.
● Maintain relationships with your customers.
This goes without saying, but it doesn’t mean it’s not important! With all this remote working, companies are seeing their most important stakeholders less and less. You may not see them face-to-face, but don’t disregard their existence. Go the extra mile by picking up the phone or having a virtual coffee to maintain a connection. Remember, they are the ones keeping your business going!
● Minimize communication with Bots where possible.
This goes hand-in-hand with maintaining relationships. Yes, streamlined communication is essential, but there is nothing worse than finding a WhatsApp number for a company, only to find out you’re chatting with a robot, and this robot needs some information that you don’t have to progress you to talk to an actual human. Don’t be that company. Human interaction is the only way to create and maintain relationships!
● Constantly Innovate.
It’s not enough to have a product that people like. Ensure your sales funnel becomes a sales ecosystem by incorporating post-sales package options or nurturing strategies to keep your consumer returning to you and not your competitors. This can be as simple as adding more products to your offering list or bolstering your customer service initiatives with training options for your products.
● Maintaining market relevance has never been more critical.
Possibly the most important lesson we learned from COVID was that you have to maintain relevance to your client base. When it comes to crunch time, and you aren’t front of mind, but your competitor is, you will be eliminated from the competition as the weakest link.
● KPIs are important, but so is employee satisfaction.
One of the most challenging obstacles of COVID was trying to maintain your company’s pre-pandemic targets. KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) are still important, but consider assessing your targets regularly to ensure that your employees are still realistically on track in accordance with the chaos going on around them.
